The 272 profile offers greater increases in power levels, but is tailored for higher RPM range use and race oriented driving characteristics. Increased performance from the HKS camshafts are achieved by widening the degree of opening of the valve, which increases power in the higher RPM range, and by increasing lift, which raises overall torque output. HKS also offers high performance valve spring sets for limited applications that can benefit from stiffer springs when using the "larger" profile HKS camshafts. As valve train dynamics change from the use of high performance cam profiles and with greater lift, stiffer springs are often needed to optimize valve movement. When changing to a high lift cam, the stock springs often can not match the increased valve train movement, therefore HKS has specifically engineered valve springs that match the characteristics of HKS camshafts. A stringent shot peening and heat treatment process is applied to the HKS valve springs to provide durability and consistency in the spring rates over time. | Uprated Conn Rod Set These F1 style Carillo connecting rods are a direct replacement for the standard rods. They are an "H" beam design (the strongest possible) made in EN24T and shot peened stress relieved. They have a bronze small end bush and ARP rod bolts. These rods should be considered for power outputs above 360 bhp. The standard rods are proving to be extremely reliable, with the only instances of failure caused on engines running too much boost on the standard ECU. | Uprated Big End Bolts Experience has shown that above 330 bhp it is wise to replace the big end bolts for higher rated items. These have a higher tensile strength and therefore will stretch less at high RPM. These ARP bolts are the best available. This is a good additional safety measure for non standard cars.
